The Ecosystem Restoration and Management Program aims to protect, restore, and sustainably manage Uganda’s diverse ecosystems, which are critical for supporting livelihoods, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Rapid deforestation, wetland encroachment, and pollution, exacerbated by activities such as agriculture, infrastructure development, and oil exploration have led to significant ecosystem degradation, threatening both the environment and the communities that depend on it.
Our program focuses on restoring degraded ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, and rivers through reforestation, community-led conservation initiatives, and sustainable land-use practices. We work closely with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the equitable sharing of benefits from ecosystem services.
We also prioritize capacity building by equipping communities with knowledge and tools for sustainable natural resource management. By promoting ecosystem restoration, we aim to enhance biodiversity, combat climate change, and ensure the long-term sustainability of livelihoods and natural resources
